iFlicks 2 App Reviews

Buy a Plex-Pass instead

I bought this app just to add metadata to my itunes library, something this app is supposed to perform gloriously if you believe all the reviews. Sadly I was duped and this software is not fit for purpose. TV shows now have all manner of problems, including the wrong artwork, incorrect transmission dates and the removal of all Series information, making it harder to navigate my content. That iTunes needs life-support app’s like this in the first place is a signal something is fundamentally wrong. Do yourself a favour and get Plex instead.

Added subtitle support is a big plus!

Been using this app for over a year and it works like a champ. Huge mkvs become huge m4vs without a loss of quality or size. Contacted the developer with a question and he responded right away. In my case this was money well spent.

Great! But Missing One Thing

Great tool at auto downloading metadata for shows and movies. Only shortfall is lack of srt (closed captioning/sub-titles) integration. Would be perfect if it would pull or allow me to upload srt files to it.

Really, really useful

This is one of thoe applictions that you almost have a hard time appreciating because it is done so well: it’s seamless to the point that you don’t have to think about it, and this is a very good thing. If you need a application that is fire-and-forget for video conversion and importing your videos into iTunes, this is what you want.

Works!

What can I say? Iflicks 2 works as advertised. The developer(s) are true to what they promised on the package.

Been using this since V1 - just getting atound to writing a review

worth the 15$ at the time - not 100% but 99.99999 - it does what it says extremely well - can’t live without it - suggestion: make a windows version too drop the price to 9.99 and become millionaires!!!! maybe 4.99 + ads !!!! keep the good work coming

Replaces Handbrake

This is my new go-to for converting movies and tv shows and tagging them. This has completely replaced Handbrake for me.

Wonderfully useful app

I just started to convert all of my DVD’s to Apple TV format through HandBrake. After they finish, I load them up into iFlicks and they’re (almost always) instantly recognized. High quality artwork is automatically added and it adds all of the appropriate metadata. I love this app. It saves SOOOO much time having to pull pictures from Google and researching on IMDB. I bought this app at full price ($24.99) and have absolutely no regrets. It’s a great app. Highly recommended.

Does what it says, but certainly not a deal

I’ve been using iVI to convert MKV files into a format that iTunes can digest. The interface to iVI is a bit awkward at times and I don’t quite feel I have full control over it so I decided to give iFlicks2 a shot. It does the job it sets out to do, but it’s nothing remarkable. It pulls in the metadata, it cross codes the file, it loads it into iTunes in the right place. The interface is only marginally more understandable than iVI, and it is far less flexible as far as encoding options. If you’re unfamiliar with video coding formats, and don’t want to worry about it, then iFlicks 2 will do the job you want— just drag stuff in, and it converts over. If you want to have some semblance of control, or understanding what’s happening under the hood, then this probably isn’t it. There are some advanced features for scripting, rules and watched folders, but I can’t imagine those appealing to an audience that doesn’t want to create their own conversion presets. Either way, iFlicks2 has a marginally cleaner interface but otherwise doesn’t stand out compared to much less expensive alternatives (iFlicks2 is $25 at the time of review).

Fantastic Application

I was looking for an app that allowed me to easily update all my movie’s metadata and convert any files that were not compatible with iTunes for my home streaming. I searched everywhere and this was the best option and worth the high price tag. Beautiful interface and just works. Great job guys!

Over priced beta software

This has so much potential to feel a gap in many workflows but falls short. It’s buggy, refuses to process a cue at times without giving you any reason for the failure, does not allow you to re-try something that was in your cue of you do have a probelm. I spent 30 minutes filling in custom metadata only to get a error and then no other options. I coulnd’t make any changes to the cue, try it again or get any details on the error that might help me figure it out. Tech suppor is just defensive at best. I think if you’re going to learn to program on other peoples time then the trade off should be a free or very inexpensive app. I’m very disappointed all around with this app and my support experience.

Not worh the price, but great for metadata editing

Despite people’s warnings, I purchased this, looking for a good replacement for another product whose database is no longer functioning. Primarily I was looking for something to use as a metadata editor. I thought if I could use this to also encode, that would be fantasic. Sadly, the encoding features only have presets that you don’t have much control over until you want to hunt down or write your own Appple Scripts. So, I’m using it as a metadata editor. As such, definitely not worth the price, nevertheless, it does a good job at it.

It works

Compared to so much sludge in the App Store, this is a refreshing change. This application works. It does what it says and does it well. I use it every day to update my library in iTunes and don’t have any problems. I can highly recommend this application - To the Developer - Good Job! Frank

Nice app, but only if discounted

This app is useful for adding metadata to video that I like to transfer into iTunes. But it’s priced far too high for what it does. At half price it’s a decent product, but not at 25 bucks. Four stars for the app and its functionality, but two stars on the pricing.

Great App! Watch for overheating though!

I love this app to peices, got it when it was on sale for like $3 ages ago. While processing dozens of tv episodes today though it was using 100% CPU of my maxed out 2011 iMac and the fans just kept cranking up and up. Finally I take a look at the temps and they were almost 180F! Had to wait for it to cool down, ambient temp was in the 70s no humidity to it seemed a bit strange but whatever.

Cheap of them not to support iFlicks original, but...

I held out on upgrading for a long time. Bit the bullet and purchased iFlicks 2. It’s a great improvement. It just works… Like a mac should.

Makes adding movies to ITunes so easy

I bought the app to add movies to iTunes (with all relevant metadata) without all the hassle of doing it manually. And that’s where the magic of iFlicks 2 lies: It saved me hours of work, because it really worked beautifully. The help files can be improved, but it took me just 10 minutes to figure out how it works.

HUGE File Sizes

Pros: - Meta data portion works great - Fairly Fast - Simple fairly clean interface Cons: - Makes huge Blu-Ray (BD) File Sizes (Raw movie only rip 23 GB, encoded for iTunes 19GB) - No file quality adjustments - Expensive (for what it does) I may use the program some, but this is another reason I HATE the Apple App store for computer apps. I feel like I just wasted $25 on an app I won’t use because I wanted it for BD encoding, but I don’t want 20 gig movies on my computer. Stick with Handbrake!

Trashed Files

Attempted to update metadata only and it corrupted half my files!

Essential App for Digitizing Your Movie Collection

I have used iFlicks 2 for over a year now, and without it there is no way I could have converted my movie library (over 400 movies) to a digital collection. It is a very simple to use, yet powerful as you want it to be. Along with Handbrake, I used iFlicks to update the metadata and auto-import my movies into iTunes library. I was able to automate much of this process, as iFlicks allows you to create “Watch Folders” that can have custom rules to rename, change metadata, and move the file to a different folder (or iTunes). It is very easy for those who have only simple needs, but also very powerful and customizable for “power users”. In addition to the excellent features and ease of use, iFlicks support is top notch! I had a particular project that required a custom complicated set of rules and I couldn’t quite get it to work by myself. Keep in mind that this was no fault of iFlicks 2, but my own limitations. So I sent an email asking for help and within 24 hours of emailing support, I had a perfectly working solution. I am somewhat of an app junkie, and this is a level of service that was above and beyond not only most other developers, but even my own expectations. If you are looking for an app that can help you with processing your movies and TV shows, iFlicks 2 can handle whatever you throw at it. This is the app you’ve been looking for!
