Over the years I’ve tried most of the video metadata tagging programs and the first iFlicks was by far the best. Fortunately, iFlicks 2 is better in almost every way.

I bought this just before the recent 2.2 upgrade (and the 25% price drop) so the value I felt like I was getting was a little unbalanced. But even at $18.99 it’s still rather pricey. But, the app really does work very well. And now that the Watch Folders process can run in the background I don’t have to keep iFlicks open all the time which is handy. It does what it’s supposed to do and I’m particular about my Metadata - so if you are too, go ahead and support the developer and buy this app.
This software is great. Best in it’s class.
iFlicks is indispensible to me. Will rock your media world.
I have been deployed for a long time and this is the best solution ever for my iTunes library. I have to say that this program is simple… I drag the .AVI files from my old PC Hard drive over to iFlicks and it auto-magically converts it to apple tv format and inserts it into my iTunes. I have a 5TB hard drive full of programs most not in iTunes. This awesme program converts the files over, places them in iTunes and deletes the .AVI file off the drive. I’ve yet to have a hiccuup or loss of any program. I am able to catch up on entire seasons of programs that I have missed. I will say that the conversion is a little slower than handbrake, but handbrake has left me with files that have had video problems where the words do not synch to the mouth movement. I’ve yet to find anything that has been less then perfect with iFlicks. Jendrick is the most responsive developer I have dealt with… he runs a tight ship and this is a rock solid program. Transfer of the videos to my iPhone and iPad have been flawless. I spend quite a large amount of time in the doctor’s office as well and being able to take my programs with me so I can watch them on the bus and in the waiting rooms has been a godsend. Since I purchased this program three weeks ago it’s been chugging along without rest as it is converting a mountain of my video files. I’m a recent MAC convert and the only thing that gave me the blues was that most of my video was in .AVI format. Thanks now to iFlicks my .AVI’s are being converted over and iTunes properly cataloged. It is ingenious, and intuitive… I love being able to find my files on the menu from iTunes or my Apple TV. I can’t thank the developers enough as they also responded quickly to a question I had on the program. As a former programmer / developer myself I can say that if they are working ont this for a significant amount of time $25 is a fair price. For those who rely on the free programs look at how long it’s been since they were updated. If you want a good program to be developed continually then one must pay the developer for their efforts. Thank you for making such a quality program.
Easiest way to integrate third party videos into my itunes library. Works nearly flawlessly and with great conversion quality.
While I love this app and have used it for my huge collection, I am really annoyed by this recent update. I understand that some people may prefer squared TV art. I prefer to have rectangular cover arts so I can conserve space horizontally. What I don’t understand is that the app forces the rectangular cover art to become square by putting whitespace on the sides (alpha=0). Please fix this so that I don’t have to see gray boxes appear around my cover art in itunes. It really annoys me. Please fix this soon.
If you’ve got plenty of money to blow, this app may be for you. It works well and does what it aims to do. However, with a $25 price tag, I can’t recommend this app. All it does is gather some data from the Internet based on the name of the file you gave it. Plenty of apps for under $25 do some incredible things: photo editing, high quality gaming, productivity managing & planning, etc.. Where do the developers get this evaluation of $25?? I bought it when it was $10. Then it went to $20. Later it climbed to $25. But, whatever. Maybe the developers would rather have a small user base which should in turn be less support tickets or something. Whatever their reason, I leave this review to help people who are in the hunt for a solution to unorganized media. So, here is my recommendation: GET PLEX! Plex (https://plex.tv) is amazing and free with a premium subscription option. It does movie metadata as well as music and more. You get all your media on all your devices with their companion apps. I’m not affiliated with Plex. I’m just a passionate user. Enjoy! —————————————————————————————— Previous Review: Although I love this app, I bought it when it was on sale. Now its $25, which is too much in my opinion. Even though the app itself is great, I cant recommend it to people for that price. Come on, dev…
I’ve had great experiences with this software. Really saves me time, and I can queue everything up to run in the nighttime. Maybe one in a hundred items isn’t recognized and tagged properly, and that is usually an old, foreign movie. Highly recommend this software.
One of the best pieces of software available across all platforms relating to home media centres - seriously though iFlicks makes life really simple - getting content converted in an automated way and placed directly into iTunes to be made avilable on all my Apple devices - Priceless! The Apple Script capability is also great - I have some custom scripts built that notify me via email of all additions - that way I know when I get home what’s in iTunes before I even need to look! Keep up the awesome work guys!
It used to work fine before the latest update. Now it doesn’t insert the correct tag information and doesnt import movies into the movie folder. Very fustrating for the price of this app! I need to look for another app.
The app works. The rules work and the encoding and auto add to itunes works flowlessly. One request is that it encode in parallel. My server is nearly idle.
I started using iFlicks v1 and instantly loved it. It takes all the boring work of searching for art work and copying and pasting titles and descriptions. It’s a must have for any Mac user that want to keep their video collection labled correctly. Not to mention the convinience of the muxing and converting of formats. ************LOVE THIS APP!************
I followed the instructions and still services do not show up in iTunes to add meta data or anything. It deleted a movie out of iTunes when I tried to update metadata through the iFlicks interface. Had so many error dialog boxes everytime I tried to digitize a movie, I would have to Force Quit it. Will not downlaod metadata for movies. This app just does NOT work. i am using current, up to date system, not beta or anything old.
Bought it a while ago and its not worth it in my opinion, Not budget friendly! Also the service was good, I emailed them and i did receive a reply, however would not recommend this app. Extremely expensive!
Software is very, very buggy. Would take multiple refreshes to load metadata (if at all). Would not load several files that play fine.
I’ve been using iFlicks since its original days, and it just keeps improving. In this new update (2.2.2), you can now use 3x2 art for TV shows if that’s all you have available (as opposed to the usual square art for iTunes) and the program will make sure that the rectangular art shows up in iTunes and on your iPad or iPhone. It’s by far the easiest way to get any kind of video file, including separate srt subtitle files, into iTunes and onto your iDevice including metadata automatically downloaded off the net. If your source file uses an iTunes-compatible encoding, like x264, then it’s also super-fast, it just takes seconds to work. The developer is also very responsive to comments and new feature requests.
The previous version of the free version worked great. After doing a bunch of movies and TV shows from my collection I decided to buy this version. With the latest version, it does not always populated the file with the tags, works about 50% of the time. And the previous issue where you can not see season information and the file name at the same time. When I rip my DVD’s I encode episode number in the file name, too many mouse clicks to navigate. Simply put, the workflow for TV shows is much better in the free version. I regret paying money for version 2.0
This application is great, but since updating everytime I go to use it my Mac is making noises I have never heard before. Just checked CPU usage its 373.9 my fan on the Mac is going mental.
I was using a combination of apps to convert my TV Shows/Movies from .mkv format to iTunes compatible .m4v. Xilisoft’s Video Converter Ultimate (to convert into .mp4) and iDentify (to pull metadata and add my own). All of a sudden, my AppStore purchased version of iDentify stopped working and their support site is useless (basically a blog and no way to directly contact the developer), so I began looking for other options. Seeing iFlicks 2 I was wondering if I should invest the rather high $25 price tag for the app, but since I use this at least for 2-3 shows a day, I decided that I’d take the plunge. The interface is quite simple (at the beginning this turned me off, since I was used to iDentify’s more complete format), but simply dragging and dropping files work great. Positive things in my case (which I’m uploading TV shows constantly). - Saved time: I don’t know how it does it, but instead of converting the .mkv files that take about 20-30 minutes per episode (and significant processing power even on my maxed out 2015 Macbook Pro) it now “repackages” it, which takes seconds. - Squared TV Show art: iTunes stopped supporting rectanguar TV Show artwork, so I had found a page where I could download my own artwork and then include manually on iDentify. iFlicks actually finds squared artwork (if you’ve selected this option), which is a huge time saver! In the worst case, if a TV Show doesn’t have squared artwork available, then it will take the rectangular one and resize to make it squared. - Amazing accuracy to get content: In my case, some of the TV Shows I have actually include the air date (Judge Judy and Real Time with Bill Maher) and/or omit the season/episode information, which in iDentify would create problems. This meant I’d have to go and either add the season/episode information manually and/or delete air date. With iFlicks none of this is needed, as it justs takes this and I guess finds which season/episode a TV Show corresponds to. So yeah, the price is high, but the simplicity and almost “set it and forget it” way of working makes this the best $25 I’ve spent on my Mac for quite some time. Way to go!!
