iFlicks 2 App Reviews

issues with subtitles

Im having some issues with subtitles. After conversion, some videos have subtitles at the top of the screen when I play them with QuickTime or Apple TV :(((

Top quality app with prompt support

This app really does it all. In the past, I’ve separately used iSquint, Handbrake & Handbrake Batch, iDentify, MetaX & MetaZ, Subler, Subsmarine and others to convert, tag, and subtitle. All these apps are fine in their own right but iFlicks is by far the best I’ve ever tried. If I had iFlicks years ago, I would have saved dozens of hours and tons of grief completing my huge video library. To borrow Apple’s saying, it just works. The metadata lookup is magical and it hasn’t failed once and the interface is simple and intuitive. I have contacted support regarding some basic questions and replies have been swift and concise. If you are looking for a solution to metadata tagging, video format converting, and subtitling, this is the superior choice and is worth every penny.

What happened?

Takes twice as long now in version 2.4 to process files in quick mode (iTunes compatible)… What happened?

Nice application, does the job with a good interface and work flow.

I’ve been doing the task targeted by iFlicks with command line tools, and iFlicks is so much easier. As I wasn’t about to write my own app I decided to pay up for a nice GUI and workflow, and I’m quite pleased. Converts formats, adds metadata, and handles subtitles well, and that’s what I need. The developer seems to be committed to continual improvement and I appreciate that. He/she must be quite familiar with the needs/desires of the target audience, and has put together an application that seems pretty easy to use out of the box, with reasonable support for more complex tasks. Update for version 2.4: The app gets better incrementally, probably reflecting input from people with more complicated needs than I, but I do often appreciate improvements I didn’t know I wanted. I really like this app and the way it helps me get video files optimized for use on OS X or iOS with and without iTunes (I generally prefer VLC to iTunes because files tend to pile up in iTunes and use a lot of disk space).

Outstanding functionality

This app performs its intended function extremely well. One of the worst aspects about coverting a TV/movie archive collection into usable iTunes/Apple TV files is getting the show/movie titles right, and it’s great to get the right cover art and associated info as well. This app automates that process and is indispensible for folks who want to minimize the hassle of getting the video file metadata right. Most highly recommended.

finally

This app is amazing. Its takes any video file and makes it iTunes friendly with album art, info, actors, chapters, subtitles etc. For those OCD about organization, this is your swiss army knife.

Great app, few minor bugs remaining

This is a great app with frequent updates by the developer. However, it still has a few minor bugs: - when toggling the sidebar, the collection view sometimes doesn’t refresh by itself. - trying to drag a cover image on the desktop doesn’t work and cause the app to hang (forced-restart required).

Bad subtitles positioning

It says “improve subtitles positioning”, how come ? Always on top of screen, which is anoying ..

It’s good, but...

Works perfectly, unless you put more than 30 files at the same time (iMac 2011). Needs a fix fot this issue.

iFlicks 1 is way better

Huge letdown! The services are missing. How do I easily change the metadata within iTunes then? When changing the cover in batch mode, nothing happens. No crash, but no progress eiether. So far, unfortunately, I don’t see a single improvement to iFlicks 1… On it’s own, it’s still an okay program. But compared to its predecessor...

Upgrade paid off

I had the first version iflicks and it was really great but very slow on my MBP early 2011. I upgraded to the new version and paid again but it was worth the upgrade. The coversion of TV series and movies is really twice as fast and saves me a lot of time. It is in daily use and was a good investment.

Perfect App, great customer support!

I am working with iFlicks over a year now, the 2.0 version was a huge leap forward! The App runs smoothly, the results are amazing. The developer is absolutey great in regards of customer service, for each and every problem you´ll get a fast and reliable answer. It´s absolutely worth the money, go and get it!!

Great

no more to say. All functionalities described are tested and working perfectly.

Good start. More automation required.

Good App. I’m using this a lot. And it works for smaller number of files at the same time. Too much work by choosing names of movies and series by myself. I miss some intelligence to get the same of a series out of the filename and put numbers in the filename automatically as episode. A had also a failure by converting mkv into mp4. Conversion failed, but original mkv files were deleted… I would expect, that the deletion will only be done in case of success…. :-(

Great new features

I’ve been a user of version 1 for a few years, and this version is a welcome set of changes that makes the workflow better. The watch folder function, instead of needing to rely on flaky folder actions scripts really does speed up the process. Very nice version!

Very useful app

Best $10 I’ve ever spent! Better than mp4tools!

Great App with one small downside

I’m an iFlicks version 1 user and loved the app then. This is a great improvement over the first one, except for the loss of support for the legato turbo.264HD hardware encoding usb stick. Please bring this support back!!!

Not fetching metadata anymore

I’ve been a long time user of iFlicks, but this version will often convert episodes or movies without fetching metadata. Even when I add files (episodes) manually, it is unable to find the metadata for popular shows.

If you have iFlicks 1, don’t upgrade! Ripped off :(

I like iFlicks. I paid for the first version and regrettably, I paid for the second version after reading some reviews that it would be worth it. It was not. $5, sure, $10? Maybe… just. If you never owned the first version, then a good product. If you already own the first version, don’t waste your money on the upgrade. This is a minor upgrade with some UI changes, NOT worth being charged all over again. I feel VERY ripped off. Is it different than iFlicks 1? Not really. It has a slightly different user interface, but really nothing different. Is it faster than iFlicks 1? A little bit, but nothing major. Is it worth paying for an upgrade? A definite NO! Will it find meta-tags better? No, it still doesn’t find half the pretty common movies I look for. I hope the creator of this app feels a bit repentant and offers a rebate to original owners for a minor UI change.

Not Ready

Severe step back. App is unstable. Constantly crashes. Constantly hangs. Have revetted back to 1.0 which was, and continues to be, a terrific product. This update was clearly not even remotely ready and displays incredible dev irresponsability. Measure Twice, Cut Once. Very disappointed.
